    Hi all
Have attacked a printout of my nct report
Failed for emissions and also a coil spring
    Ford mondeo 2005 1.8 petrol

Don't know how to read the emissions and just wondering is it a bad fail and what would people recommend ?

Looks like it's running outrageously rich. Best visit a mechanic and have it scanned for fault-codes and troubleshooting. That oil temperature is very low - was it nice and hot before arriving at the test centre?

I only got it back from mechanic and told me just to head lights as there was a problem with them and I was gonna get it tested and see then -
Nct is about 5 miles from house and was at 9.30 last nite and wouldn't of driven car since 2.30 that day
Would dipetane be any use ? That's what fella at centre said to try

Well, I think it was tested way too cold. The cat won't even work properly until it hits around 300C. Is your mechanic able to perform his own emissions tests?

Not 100% - going to bring it up to him again later and see what he says

When I'm booking it in for re-test would - Dipetane , Long drive at high revs before test make a difference ?

It wouldn't do any harm, but personally I would prefer to get it checked out properly.

Is the engine mechanically sound i.e. doesn't burn oil? One the fails was excessive smoke and no amount of dipetane will get that fixed.

The old Mondeo 1.8 is fairly notorious for burning oil. Is the exhaust smoke bluish?
