I went for a job interview last Tuesday and it went fine. Got an email back that day to say they need references from me before I can be put through for second round interview. Gave my references and got a thank you email back but a week on I've heard nothing at all. Do i just take it that I didn't get the second interview? Do i follow up with an email or leave it be.

Did you get a timeline of when to expect further contact?

To be honest though, after a week, it's pretty reasonable to reach out and see if the interview process is still ongoing. Definitely wouldn't write it off without reaching out first.

No I didn't ask for a timeline but I was told they where very busy and needed someone. But just they got in contact so quick after the interview and to hear nothing back after a week is telling me I didn't get it. I've never wrote a follow up email before? What would i ask

Check with your referees to see if they have been contacted.
