I was banned for a month by mod Stheno for the following exchange

I'm have Pmd Stheno but no reply to explain situation.

I was accused of taking a snipe at mod presumably ForReals of that forum.

I was no as can be seen by the context of the exchange.

I'd did refer to poster 'tattoo as tats which was wrong and apologies.

Months ban for that seems very harsh

I would appreciate if you could look into it please

As per the DRP process, the first step is to engage with the mod, which I note you have attempted to do. As the mods are quite busy, I would like to give Stheno some time to respond before we move to the next step, which is to involve a CMod. Is that OK?

Yes Toots she has, and unfortunately from my point of view has not moved on the issue.

I would be very happy for you to investigate and if there are any points needing clarification I will be more than happy to provide that.

If there are defininite issues where I have not complied with the charter, I will hold my hand up and not waste your time, but on this occasion despite my respect for Stheno as a mod if feel she has been unfair to me.

Ok, I've had a look at this and I can see from the PMs that Stheno sent you, that the exchange you quoted above wasn't the only thing that got you banned. She quoted several posts you made, and explained how they all contributed to the ban.

With regards to the comment about "a rump of people" it was probably not used in quite the right context, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one - that you were using it to refer to a group of people, as opposed to being uncivil or derogatory.

However, to me, this post is quite clearly having a pop at For Reals:

If you accept that, please let me know and I can mark this as resolved. Otherwise I can ask an Admin to review it and their decision will be final.

First of all thanks for taking the time to investigate this series of issues.

May I say I am extremely upset and disappointed at the negative way I am portrayed here, being referred to as uncivil and confrontational is very hurtful as that's not my personality.

One of the main planks of the mod Sthenos evidence was an accusation of 'back seat modding'.

Did you have a look at the 'offending post' and do you agree?

Also and I'm not going to drag it up but having a pop at the mod ForReals has context involving the deletion of a block of text which I responded to.

I can expand by pm if required .

That is the reason for the reply, not "having a pop"

Where I go to from here I don't know but if the above two issues were responded to especially the back seat modding accusation, I would leave with a slightly better impression of the fairness of the procedure and the ability of people to 'put their hand up' when the get things wrong as we all do.


Once again thanks for the time and if I can get a response to the above points above please as it looks like history is very important in a posters cv here and I wouldn't want erroneous stuff hanging over my head.

Sorry about that , I got a Cloudflare error when I first tried to post my reply last night, and (after restraining myself from throwing my laptop out the window) when I was re-typing it all out, I left out the bit about the backseat modding comment.

To me, it wasn't 100% clear whether you were accusing the other poster of diffusion/deflection, or the Director General of RTE, so in the interest of fairness, I decided to give the benefit of the doubt on that and the "rump of people" comment.

If there is more context to the "no point arguing" post, then I would like to get the details of that. I'm not sure if it should be done by PM, or (in the interest of transparency) posted here. Please bear with me while I check to see which option is better, I'll post back here as soon as I find out.

Thanks Toots for the response as rest assured that back seat modding was not my intention.

With regard to the exchange with the mod ForReals I'll give you a summary.

ForReals posted an input and I responded.

You can see it at post 981 'is Enda on the way out thread'

Now what I responded to was a paragraph at the end of FRs original post and when I did
The responses from FR seemed to imply that I should be discussing Kenny and not what I replied to.

I went back to FRs original post to check and saw that a full paragraph had been deleted, the one I had picked up on!

So I came back and mentioned the quick editing and the implication, it seemed, from him, that I was going off topic and I inferred from the tone of his posts that there could be trouble ahead

That's why I decided that discretion was the better part of valour and mentioned the 'clear advantage' and backed out of the exchange.

That's as best I remember the context of the exchange, I hope it makes sense to you.

What I meant was that I had no way of proving the edit took place and given the tone of the responses , not that they were aggressive or anything, but I felt that pursuing the issue would lead to cards or worse. That's why i dropped the issue but wanted to let the Mod ForReals know I had seen the original unedited post.

However, as I mentioned before, please consider posting style going forward. While I was investigating this DRP I did come across quite a few of your posts which were very close to being card-worthy, so do be mindful of what/how you're posting.

If this is agreeable to you, please confirm here and I'll lift your ban.

I am very happy with the way you handled the request and the sense of fairness in which you took on board my points was very encouraging.
