Hi all, looking to put in new kitchen sink and faucet, same as the one that's already there. Trouble is, had a look in Band Q all sinks are either 86/96/100 cm's wide. My current sink is 94.5 cm's wide so what's the best this to do? Don't want to have to go cutting counter tops etc.

If you can't find one that's the same size.. I'm afraid you will have to replace counter tops.

How big is the aperture in the counter top? What sort of counter do you have?

or cut out the hole to accommodate the 100cm wide sink

If its a standard stainless steel kitchen sink, then its pretty easy to enbiggin the hole with a jigsaw. You dont even have to be that neat. If its something like a Belfast sink, then its a bit trickier, and any cuts you make will be visible.

There really is no need. If you remove the kitchen sink, you'll see where there was an opening cut to receive the sink. All you need to do is make the hole a bit bigger to accommodate the new sink.

Actuall, thinking about this, I'm assuming the ocerall length of the sink is 100cm, but its only the actual bowl of the sink that has to sit into the countertop, so you may not need to cut at all.

Either way, its really not a big job

Sinks are always changing, both design & size. If its a good few years old, then you will have no option but to buy marginally bigger and enlarge the cutout with a jigsaw. Not difficult to do.

I once had a similar issue, not with a sink but a hob, in a previous house. The topside of the two hobs, the new one and replacement, were identical, but the underside was slightly bigger on the newer one so didn't fit in.

The counter top was wood so I hacked the crap out of it with a jigsaw just enough to slide in. Taken on it's own it was a disgraceful job but I knew it would never be seen anyway as it was going to be covered.
