From a place that sells reconditioned ones that are tested and have a guarantee an all

What condition is the belt in? Was it refitted correctly? Check all connections for good clean contact too.
Even with a tested and garuanteed altinator it could still be faulty.

New belt was put on as well, will check all contacts later an if still the same will take it out again and have it checked were I got it but I'm pretty sure its working 100% as they bench test them and offer warranty but I'll get it checked to be sure

OK so took alternator back it was bench tested an working fine throwing out 14.4 volts...so its working fine by looks of it...fitted it back in secured all good an tight still the same...volts jump from 13.2 to 11.8...lost for ideas now even rang a auto electrical mechanic an when I told him all I'd done he was stumped as to what to suggest ...said your clearly losing volts somewhere but where

Where are you checking the voltage?

Check the alternator output directly at the alternator between its output terminal and its casing, if its @ 14.4 its good.

Then Check the voltage drop across the cables.
    - Measure the alternator casing voltage to the negative battery pole (not battery connector). Needs to be max 0.1V. More than that = dodgy earth conection
    - Measure the alternator output terminal to the positive battery pole (not battery connector). Needs to be max 0.1V. More than that = dodgy +12V connection.

Now, as its a Ford, might it have the Smart Charge system?
Have a look at the alternator, does it have a small 3x wire connection? If it does, that's a different ball game, but disconnecting that small 3pin cable reverts the alternator into a standard alternator.
