    Hi, I'm in deep trouble.

My Citroen C3, 11 years old has a fuel leak, I just wanted to drive shopping, got the strong smell of fuel and discovered the ground under the car is full of petrol.

Problem is, I refilled my tank yesterday so it's full, it's parked on the street in front of the house and I have no idea what to do but I think something needs to be done asap.

    I'm based in D9.

Put a pan under the car to catch the escaping fuel then ring a mechanic as it could be the tank or the fuel line that's leaking.

Thanks a lot, gonna do that. My man is going to call a mobile mechanic since ours is closed.
Just don't know who else I could call.

did you brim it to the very top with petrol?

I had a car (years ago) and the fuel filler pipe wasnt propperly connected to the fuel tank.
So if i over filled the car (ie the pipe from the tank to the fuel filler operinging was full of petrol) i would leave a trail of petrol behind me, until it dropped about a litre or two.

and it still passed the NCT, even though there was obvious signs that a leak had taken place

Just to give a short update, we called the mobile mechanic, there were actually two leaks, he could fix one on the spot, the other one was the ring that seals the tank, it popped off when we topped up and will be replaced tomorrow.

    Thanks all.
