Risk of hernia following Laparoscopic Appendectomy?

I'm currently recovering from a emergency appendectomy I had on the 3rd of march - so almost 3 weeks ago.

I've had different advice about how & when I can return to exercise or activity. Basically it boils down to taking at least 4 weeks, probably more like 6 before I engage in anything strenuous.
So no high intensity stuff, squats or heavy lifting for a while.

That's not a problem (as such) - except I have a 15kg toddler at home. I can't avoid lifting her - and from time to time having to carry her (e.g. it's raining and she won't get in the car/runs away).

I haven't been able to get much advice on whether lifting her would count as heavy lifting - and whether I'm running a risk of a hernia down the road by lifting her. And would I know if I'm doing damage - i.e. if it doesn't hurt, does that mean it's ok?

Any advice or experience that anyone could share would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi thejaguar,

Medical advice isn't permitted on boards I'm afraid so no one will be able to offer comment on your circumstances. Would suggest speaking to your doctor to get clarification/reassurance.
