    Hi

I am considering leaving Ulster Bank and setting up a current account with someone else - one of the features that frustrated me with Ulster Bank was the difficulty in banking North and South.

I split my time between north and south and have bills to pay in both - as i work in south and get my salary paid into southern bank account i have to transfer money every month to cover some bills in the north.

I have to do this manually every month with Ulster Bank as I can't set up a recurring monthly payment between my two accounts. Is this something BOI would offer if I set up a current account with BOI North and BOI south?

Hi Saint Sonner, thanks for getting in touch.

It's possible to open a Bank of Ireland account in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, however it wouldn't be possible to arrange an automatic cross border payment such as a standing order/direct debit between these two accounts.

You'd need to make a transfer between the accounts, but you can schedule these transfers up to 60 days in advance using our online banking service.

You can open an account online or by calling our account opening team on +3531 4044034.

I hope this helps, let me know if you've any other questions.

    Thanks
    Nicola
