    Hi

I am trying to transfer a sterling amount to family member.  I want to transfer fixed amount and absorb charges myself.

Can this be done online or should I just transfer Euro amount?

    Thanks

Hi mbradso2003, thanks for getting in touch.

If you're making the transfer online to the UK then you'll have the option to make it in either Euro or Sterling. If you'd like to make the payment in Sterling then you'll need to set up the payee as an 'international payee'. If the payee is set up as a 'SEPA payee' then you'll only be able to transfer Euro.

In relation to charges, you'll pay any Bank of Ireland charge (if applicable) you can check these charges here. But the beneficiary would need to pay any charges that might apply from their side (they'll be able to check this with their own bank).

I hope this helps, please let me know if you need anything else.

    Thanks
    Nicola
