    Hi all,
I have a deposit down on a 2011 2.0 TDCI Titanium X 160BHP with 80k miles on the clock. I am buying through a mail dealer and the car has been serviced regularly.
I have been checking to see what is involved with respect to timing chains/belt and other belts that need replacing later on.

From what I gather this 2 ltr car has a belt and chain - is this correct ?
Should I look at getting the belts(camshaft belt and auxilliary belt) changed now at this mileage to be preventive ?
Any idea on rough costs on these ?

    many thanks,
    Noel.

I really think these are the sort of questions you should have been asking the dealer before you put the deposit down. Not too late however, ask the dealer.

2.0 has belts, should be done at this stage based on age and not mileage.

I had a Ford C-Max that had both a chain & belt...changed the belt at the required time only for the chain to give way 12 months later and had do both then (belt again)...job cost me approx €1300!

thanks for replying - I had it on my list of things to check and it slipped out of my head. As you said it is still something that I can get addressed now before finally taking the car. Trying now to ensure I have all the bases covered.

    thanks JJJNR for clarifying.
I was reading other forums and the ford recommendation is at 10 years/125000 miles but more people have suggested doing them well in advance at 5 years/75000 miles. This is something I will follow up on now.

200 k km or 10 years is the replacement interval on 2.0 ltr mondeo.
Its only a timing belt no wet belts.

    thanks all.
Got back onto the dealer. They would not change the belts as part of the car deal they were not not near the recommended 120k miles.
We worked out a deal so I am getting them done now with them at a discount.
Probably been over cautious but getting them done now gives me peace of mind that they are done. :)
    Thanks for all the replies.
