2017 boards.ie NFL Mock Draft - Interest and Chat Thread

Welcome to the 2017 Boards.ie NFL Mock Draft - Interest and Chat Thread,

If your interested put your name down and as soon as we have enough I will do a random draw for the draft order to start us off, I'm hoping to get started next week as there's only 36 days till the draft and most big free agent deals will have been completed by then,

We're looking for 32 participants, this way everyone gets a pick in the two rounds of the mock draft, I don't think there is time for a third round this year as we're starting a week or two then last year,

The only change I'm thinking of making, is a time limit of 6-8 hours on a pick from 9am to 10pm, to help keep the draft going in the shorter time span this year, I'll try to attach a poll for everyone to vote on it,

If there is drop outs from the draft order as we go threw the draft. it will move to the first person on the waiting list, just in case there is no waiting list I'm thinking of getting a fan of that team to make the pick example, Titans we would get Heli or Chargers OAOB or 49ERS Adrian etc, but I'm not sure of who supports some teams so if you don't mind saying which team you follow if you don't mind helping out in a pinch later on,

Any comments, thoughts, suggestions etc you have on the mock draft are welcome.

I'll take anyone. Always thought the beauty of this was that it sllows you to look st a new team in depth and as such should stay random (browns/bears)

normally agree but this year just dont have the time to go look at other teams unfortunately

I'm in too. I'm a Packers fan but there's plenty of us and I wouldn't mind taking a look at another teams needs in a bit of detail, so if another fan wants to do us then I'll pick up any team that we have no fans on Boards for.

Obviously if no other Packers fan steps up then I have no problem doing that pick.

I think it's still going to be random, but if 32 people don't sign, posters will be able to take on the extra pick without too much hassle. That's the way I read it anyway

Yeah it's still random draw, but if people drop out as we draft I'll give the pick to someone who follows the team that's missing a GM

I'm in for the fun of it but I think there should be an overnight option for picks. There are guys here living in the US and they won't be on at the same time of the day as people living in Ireland. I think people should get 24 hours to make a pick.

Now obviously we'd hope that people make picks a lot quicker than that but just leave it at 24 hours so that it's unlikely that somebody misses their pick.

That's a great point, I hadn't thought of the guy's living across in the US, that's why I had put in the poll to ensure it was the fairest possible system to all

I would like to do it and EE is right we would need that extra bit of time as timezone is a killer when only 6 or 8 hours for each pick.

I'm a Packers fan but happy to try out a new team. I do think it'd be better to have the same team in both rounds if there's 32. It got too confusing for me last year to research 2 different teams that I didn't know for their needs in two different rounds.

26 signups now, not the best number, but I can work it out that everyone gets a relatively fair number of picks and work in late signups after, I'll do the Draft order tonight and post it up, we will start Friday morning gives everyone time to look at there team needs,

I'll leave the time at 24 hour's, I'll not change it unless it's getting close to the actual Draft it's self, but don't think we will have to worry about that,

I think the 9ers and Bears picks are very interesting. Assuming Garrett goes first, both teams are so thin on talent they could pick virtually anyone. Both badly need QBs but the question marks over whether any of the ones available are worth such high picks, really does blow it wide open. I've a feeling both would like to trade back a bit but not sure they'll have anyone willing to pay up a lot of picks to do that to be honest.

The pick is made, didn't really like my options and if i was the 49er's i'd be trying my best to move down to about no.8, most of the players that they need will be available to them at that position
