Radio watches in Ireland

Has anyone any experience of radio sync watches in Ireland?

Have been tempted by one recently, but there doesn't seem to be much information on radio sources from which to sync in Ireland.

Are we too far away from potential UK sources?

    Anyone?

    Bueller?

I have a G shock and the radio sync works fine on the West Coast.

I've got a citizen radio controlled watch. I'm located in Dublin and pick up a signal every night.

When I first bought it there was no juice in it at all and I wasn't picking the signal up, But when I got it fully charged it's been fine

    Thanks guys.

Just wasn't sure whether they were practical here or not.

I like the idea of having one in the collection—the gold standard as it were :)

I have a few automatics and manuals and like the idea of a radio controlled one from which to set others.

    Cheers,
    LD

My cheap Aldi/Lidl wall clock is radio controlled and has been working away steadily for the last 8 yrs.

BTW, your smartphone uses 'network' time (if you toggle this ON) and this synchronisation (SDH) in a telecoms network is generally derived from an atomic clock.

I've a few here too - two cheap radio clocks, a casio watch and a good Junghans. Most of those sync to England and should be fine for the whole country really. The Junghans (and Ruhla-garde watches would be the same) sync to Frankfurt and that is right at the periphery of a good signal so will work in Dublin, but not every night, and I'd say not viable further west. Also, because it's seeking a signal longer, the battery wears down quicker. But all are ultimately fine in East Coast/Dublin at least.

I have 4 X casio and 3 X citizens and they all receive radio signal each night... It's great to see them all side by side with the exact same time...

Or maybe I'm just sad :)

Well, I acquired a cheap, second hand Casio Wave Ceptor and it works just fine.

It's a diver style watch, but only 100m rated, but it looks good.

It took a bit of messing about to set up properly, but after properly indexing the analogue hands, resetting the time zone and then doing the sync manually, it all worked.

    Mmmmm, atomic, radio time.

    I like it. 😀

I have a citizen and absolutely no problems at all anywhere in Ireland or anywhere in the world. In Europe it gets its signal from Germany.

Yeah, having worn it for a while, I put it in the box under the bed with the rest of my 'collection' and it still faithfully updates nightly, including the DST one.

    Can't say better than that.
