Looking for similar venues to Raheen House and Boghill Center

    Greetings,

I'm getting married next year! Yay!
I'm now looking at millions of venues! Blegh!

Myself and my bride to be are currently living in Japan and will be coming back to Ireland to tie the knot, so all of our wedding planning is being done by remote.

After weeks of searching we had finally narrowed our choices down to
    a) The Boghill Center (wedding) and Vaughan's Pub (reception) in Clare
    and
    b) Raheen House Hotel in Clonmel, Tipperary.

However, we sent out some of my family to scout the locations in person and they were very unimpressed.

We still like the idea of these venues, but we're taking my family's criticisms on board too. Would any of you know of any similar locations to these?
We're looking for a natural, rustic setting.

Boghill/Vaughan's seemed ideal for this, as they hit both nails pretty squarely, but didn't quite stack up on personal inspection.

    Thanks for any help!

Raheen house is gorgeous for weddings, and the food is fab too !!
It is on the outskirts of town and it is walled in so once inside the walls you could be miles from the nearest town.

What was wrong with the above? That will help people to recommend. Raheen is a lovely wedding venue, very popular locally

Also a general idea of how far you'd travel would help. have been at one wedding at Raheen, couldn't fault it really.

Look at one fab day. They have a lot of unusual venues. Not just in their suppliers sections but also in articles. I love Ashley park house personally or the mustard seed

Another vote here for Raheen house. Great venue.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Sorry it took so long to respond.

Wow, the outpouring of support for Raheen is really impressive!

I forgot to mention that my home base when we arrive back in Ireland will be Galway, so Raheen House in Clonmel is a bit of a trek. That was the major complaint I think my family had with it: for most of the family to have to travel all the way from Galway to Raheen, the venue should be spectacular. My family liked Raheen, but they didn't think it was worth the hassle of a drive that far. (We are still not completely against the venue as we've really liked all the photos/videos we've seen online)

The other complaints were that it was a little "pokey" and dark, and that the smell of food cooking in the kitchen spread over the entire house.

OneFabDay has been a vital resource for us during our wedding planning, so we're intimately familiar with it!

Definitely wouldn't trek from Galway for Raheen House or to Clare. Will you both be based in Galway?

I don't know Galway very well but you would surely get similar if not better up your own end of the country.
What sort of guest numbers/ price per head are you thinking?

Both based in Galway. We can see Clare across the Galway bay from my house, so it's not exactly much of a problem going down that way :P

As for places in Galway, that's what we're asking here. We've been shopping around online but haven't found anywhere that really speaks to us yet. Hoping some other wedding venue hunters on this page have stumbled across some gems :)

We're aiming for about 70 people, 50-60ish per head, but willing to go a little either direction from that. Small wedding with hopefully a smallish cost!

If you're coming from Galway, you couldn't do much better than Ashley Park outside Nenagh:

There's also the likes of cloghan castle or the three towers in Galway
