Hi Guys .Looking to update my Mums sky box.She has the very first sky box that came on the market .Looking to buy something on Ebay that might let her watch on HD and on her other tv in her bedroom also. Lots of great value boxes there but just need advise on what would suit her .I need to be able to just take out the old box and pop in the newer model that would be compatable with her Sky viewing card and dish ..I just bought her a new smart TV so budget a bit tight .Thanks in advance.

So you want a 2nd box or you want to udate the box she has to a new one?

As far as I know the Sky viewing card can only be paired to one box at a time.

Does she have a Sky subscription? If so, ring Sky to say your box is faulty.
If they try and charge you then threaten to cancel sub. You'll have a brand new Sky HD box in no length....its exactly what I did a couple of years back.

the box you require is this one, and its great value, its got everything, remote, box and on demand, which you wont need. This box has rf out at back and you need tthat to watch tv in other room. the old box has only one dish feed but you can make a hd box work on one feed as well.

later boxes wont have rf out so you need an extra gadget called i/o link and it can be a . pain. you ring sky to pair card to new box but you will only get hd channels that are free to air, like bbc1, 2, ch4. The others require an extra 17 euro a month. And you need an hdmi cable for hd.

Have a look at freetv.ie (No affiliation) They do second hand sky boxes with a bit of warranty.

No matter what box you get you will have to ring sky and pair the card.

For viewing same content in another room you need one of the slightly older sky boxes with and rf out port. Then you can use a magic eye kit (requires running a cable to second tv) to view in another room.

That box doesn't have an rf out, you would the I/o as suggested. Hd boxes with rf out can be got, it just might take a bit of shopping around.

You can pair box with card online on the sky website or you can connect new box to bb and it should pair it too.

Sorry, your right, didn't look closely enough at photo 5, I thought the rf connection was above the f connection.
