Diesel estate recommendations

    Ok so I've currently got an 04 forester, 2.0l, auto, and I need to change it as the consumption and tax are ridiculous.
    I'm a self employed single dad of two kids so getting a van is not an option as I need the seats for my two kids. It needs to be diesel as I can't claim the VAT back on the petrol (could've saved about €2000 last year on that alone). I need the boot space that I've got in the forester as I'm constantly putting product in the boot. Finally it's all just urban driving as I'm just going local to my clients.
    I've about 4-6k to spend on top of any possible trade in on the forester.
    Suggestions?

    octavia estate- big boot and seats, reliable, not thirsty and not too expensive.
