Citroen C4 Grand Picasso?

    Hi

I need to buy an MPV, as I need three full seats across the second row.

I currently have an 2004 Cmax with 107,000miles on the clock. Its fine but the kids are getting bigger and squashed in the back. I#m looking to trade it in.

I am considering a 2011 - 2013 Grand Picasso. as it seems to have a good safety record and you comes with more extras for the money.

I had considered the S-max but it is more expensive in general for what you get, and I've noticed the mileage tends to be higher.

I'm in Dublin. Any advice on buying a Grand Picasso from these years?
Are they all 1.6 and if so is this enough power generally?

    Thanks!
    Pix

Are you after a petrol or diesel model?
What kind of mileage are you doing slso.

I would prefer petrol as my mileage is low, less than 10k km per year. Mostly local driving, some long trips.

I would consider diesel. My mechanic said not to buy a diesel over 5 years old though.

Wouldn't buy a diesel if doing lowish mileage...not worth it.

    Thanks.

I've had another look at all the MPVs and they are nearly all diesel!

So it looks like it will have to be diesel. I've never owned a diesel, will it work out more expensive to run and why?

Also, is the Picasso a good MPV to buy generally?

    Cheers!

Have a slightly older one for the last few years. Same engine in the diesal c max and Picasso. Quirky, comfortable, cheap to run, ideal for larger family. At the time did look at the smax but couldn't justify the price difference.
I'm not a mechanic but modern diesals have filters in them that petrol cars don't. if your doing all short journeys they can get blocked and give bother. They need to be driven a bit. The occasional long journey ( 30 minutes + open road driving ) is great for diesals. Even if it's it's only once or twice a month. Look for one that has a good service history. Keep her serviced every 15k. On a weekly basis diesals will be a good bit cheaper then petrol cars of the same size on fuel , but if neglected repair bills can wipe out the savings made. I've got some amount of value out of mine, we've been everywhere in it and would buy another one again.
