Traffic vehicles

Maybe someone can help , as I'm having a *stupid* moment

Was a passenger in a work van where we had to do a removal of stuff from one location to another . about 5 trips in all .

On the runs the traffic car was parked in one location then moved to different locations on the road.

I noticed the driver was a fair bit over the limit on each trip. I obviously pointed out the obvious in your face traffic stickered car pretty much on every trip.
Driver declared they have to stop to issue points/find.

These lads didn't seem to have a speed gun hanging out the window or anything.
But it did get me wondering .
Do the new vehicles with anpr etc etc have the ability to speed check you and issue fine/points without stopping ..
This was just a traffic car .

The lads onboard seemed to be watching something .

Yep I've searched but can't seem to find anything recent ?

    Thanks so much !

The anpr checks nct and tax. (and from September, insurance) Speed gun checks speed.

If it was a traffic corp car, they'd need to pull you over and get your details.

In the main they are looking vehicles driving well over the limit.
