Frayed accelerator cable

currently have a machine with a frayed accelerator cable at one end the housing is perfect, its actually not in a car but the setup is the same so said I would post here.

the cable has a threaded piece at both end where it attaches to the throttle and attaches to the injector pump.

my question is as follows, if I get some cable 2mm thick, is it possible for me to get fittings so that I can attach threaded ends to it ? what is such a fitting even called

Not sure where you're located, but there's a company in Greenogue Industrial Estate near Newcastle, Co Dublin, called Cablecraft, who will make up the required cable for you while you wait....excellect service actually...(and I have no connection with them).
