    Hey All
Can anyone explain the Housing Assistance Program (HAP) in full detail , i know when you make a booking to view a apartment/house the landlord wont fill out the hap pack straight away , if he accepts you as a tenant , what is the time frame for the turnaround for the landlord to receive his deposit and the months rent in advance of the council??

HAP does not provide the deposit, you need to supply that.

In my case I was asked to go into the council offices and sign the HAP forms. I had to immediately begin weekly payments to the council of 26 Euro a week for a 360 Euro a month house. The Landlord got paid 360 Euro after one month. The council said that if I missed any weekly payments then the landlord would not be paid.

Were you told this by the HAP office? If you're on the housing list you could call and check if that's the case for you.

Ok well perhaps check that and have it in writing that HAP will be paid in advance as it's paid in arrears generally.

If you will be applying through homeless HAP they will pay your deposit and first months rent however regular HAP doesn't.

You should make an appointment to see your CWO to talk about a deposit.
    Everyones case is different.
Some people aren't entitled to deposits for different reasons.
That doesn't mean that no one is.

You right and its one of the reasons my landlord wont sign for HAP
He said I have a contract with you so I want my money weekly from you and where you getting it from is not my problem
Rent allowance system was much better then this one
Loads of landlords had no problem with signing rent allowance forms but wont sign for HAP
So loads of people on benefits who should get somethin like rent allowance wont get HAP because landlords wont have anything to do with third parties like the council for their rent

Do hap give you back the money you've paid out to landlord. As I've paid for out nearly 2000, waiting on hap, some people say you get nothing. Doe, a anybody know. Thanks

I'm in the same situation, paying my rent while waiting on hap for 3 months. Did you find out if you get that money back? Thanks

Hi there, wanting to apply for this scheme but have a quick question. I am a single person but have found a 2-bedroom apartment that supports HAPS. Can I apply for this or can I only apply for a 1-bedroom place?
