Broken retainer clips

Hoping someone can help me out here, changing a headlight in the car, and when I was undoing the screw/bolt the retaining clip broke.

Problem is the retaining clip seems to have a round back rather than a nut.

Anyone have an idea on how to remove the screw, as each time I untighten the round back just swivels with it.

    Any help with be appreciated.

Have you full access to the back of it? If so get a small hack saw and cut a groove into it and then use a flat head screw driver to hold it while you undo the nut on the other end.

Thanks, I'm thinking my best bet is trying to hold nut with a vice grips while trying to undo the nut not a hope of getting a hacksaw in behind and on the 'nut'

Would a hacksaw blade on its own work?
