Ya, picked the tag only lane by mistake the other night! Stopped at a red traffic light, didnt know what to do next so drove on a bit, then a barrier came down and had to brake heavily and narrowly avoided hitting it. The barrier went up again then and I had to drive on as there were a few cars behind me blowing their horns. Will i get a fine or something now?

Very unlikely for anything to happen.

I would guess someone behind you ended up paying your toll and then they had to pay 2 tolls

Don't know how people dont understand how to use a toll? There is huge bloody sign showing you exactly where to go

The person who paid your toll then probably had to reverse and then try and flash back thru the toll. Not very safe.....

Dont you worry about the safety of other drivers anyway. Just think about yourself

I hope you do get a fine, next time you might pay some attention

He made a mistake. I am sure you are also not infallible. Then, with a queue of people behind you reversing is tricky. Barrier went up and he continued driving. What other option did he have?

I wonder if car n-1 let in car n and then car n-2 let in car n-1 and so on. Perhaps there is someone waiting patiently as I type this.

The tolling system is smart enough not to bill the same tag twice within a few minutes.

First off no idea if it is a he or she....gender equality and all that

Also if said driver is not capable of looking at huge big signs correctly and pulling into a lane then I would have concerns about there ability to be on the road in the first place

Especially a motorway with high speed drivers.......

When the barrier comes down there is a big flashing sign directing you to exit left. In fairness you'd have to be fairly thick not to be able to work out what to do,

The toll operator might have just let you through to avoid the danger of having you reverse into approaching traffic. Why not just ring them with your details - they'll have scanned your reg so just pay a few euros now to a pod further hassle.

I agree because just like you, I am also perfect.

Every time someone sits behind the wheel they make some mistake. Get over yourself

I see tailgating fairly often on the m5 tag lane.
They drive within inches of the car in front.
I've even seen the car in front notice and speed up, but the tailgaters speed up and stay close.
    It seems to work too.

I hope they get caught for doing this.

Had a mental image of the OP doing a Jack Bauer out the door seconds before the car smashed through the barrier.

This is what you've to deal with on this site.
