Ticking noise from car speaker

I'm driving a 2008 C180. This evening when I started the car a tick-tock type noise has started coming from the speaker on the driver side, rear, behind the backseat headrest.

It is quite loud. Almost an indicator type sound. Its driving me mad! I have the radio off, and there's no phone or electric equipment near it, though it does sound like some type of interference.

I just noticed when I put on the right indicator the sound stops, but with the left indicator on I can hear the ticking as well as the indicator noise.

Has anybody any idea what could be wrong??

It'll be the wiring to the speaker or the head unit is at fault, maybe just wiring at the back of it. So will need to be removed if it's not the speaker. Is it just one speaker that's making the sound?

It is, its just coming from right behind the headrest on passenger side at back.

    Is it a big job?

Don't go under 4 miles per hour. Keep going, we're organising a mass.

Disconnect the speaker, see if the clicking continues.
