I will  be taking summer session at NUI  this year. My question is about getting a prepaid mobile plan.
I looked at the reviews for Lyca & Tesco . They both have very bad reviews.
Can someone please recommend a good reliable plan?
Is there a place to buy the SIM at the shannon airport ?
    Thanks
    James

There are no phone providers limited to certain regions in Ireland. Generally, they all work in 99.9% of the country.

A quick breakdown, these are my opinions but I've shopped around plenty:
3 - cheaper than other providers, very focused on mobile data, good deals and took over O2 network. Customer service has improved, you get what you pay for. 4G in most areas now, if not 3G. 4G everywhere in Galway
Vodafone - More expensive but very reliable and 4G in most areas. 4G everywhere in Galway
Meteor / eir Mobile - 4G is some / most areas, not as good as Vodafone for data. Cheaper than Vodafone.
Tesco - Customer care is good (same building as 3 Customer care in Limerick :D), they are piggy backing on 3, but they are cheap and if you're not a heavy data user, they are a good option
Lyca - Very bad customer care, patchy set up and wouldn't rely on them. They are new enough to the market and aimed at international customers. They run on Vodafone I think.

There are other providers, e.g. Postmobile and Blueface I won't include here.

Stay away from Lyca, if you want good internet or good customer service go somewhere else.

Anyway, they all have good coverage in Galway, if you go more remote, I would say Vodafone would be slight better, but Irish mobile coverage is very good everywehre
