    hi
just looking for some advice, the only external wall in main bedroom has paint peeling off & some black mold forming, i understand the walls are block walls so was thinking of internal insulation, I also need old wardrobes pulled out and was thinking of having IKEA ones installed, my DH isn't at all handy so I would have to have someone come to do all this, haven't a clue who to turn to so, if its a carpenter, builder, handyman?? any suggestions appreciated, I'm in south dublin
    thankis

I would be very reluctant to internally insulate an external wall without sorting out the source of the moisture allowing the mould to thrive.

many thanks for your reply, could mold be due to poor ventilation? who is the right person to sort it, would an insulation company be my first point of contact?
    thanks again

    1. Yes, or insufficient heating, or too high a moisture load or a combination of any or all of these.
    2. Somebody who understands building physics and will take the time to monitor the indoor environment to ascertain the cause and advise accordingly.
    3. probably not (they will just want to sell you insulation).

Absolutely not, they will just stick and go.
You need to sort out the ventilation and the vapour producing issues in the house first.

Thanks for advice, def not related to drying clothes inside, more with ventilation issues I think, there is a vent high up on bedroom wall but it could be blocked on outside, inside one was boarded up when we moved in 10 years ago, we took board down but not sure if it's sufficient. House is 60 years old and windows are double glazed but would be covered in condensation in winter, some clothes in wardrobe would have white mildew spots forming after a while, sick of it now & just want it sorted, still not sure where to start on getting it sorted.
