Closing gap between new parapet and existing building

I have a new building built up against an existing. I am wondering about best approach to weathering the gap between new parapet and existing, see sketch.

I am thinking a folded metal cap going from new build to old.

    Any suggestions?

    Yes.
Think carefully about how the flashing joints are delt with and the corners. I'd place a tough EPDM underneath laid to fall as secondary protection

If both structures are block built, you could fill the cavity, pumped mineral wool might be suitable.
