Hive Heating Control

    Hi all,

Just looking some general advice about the best way to install hive heating controls.

Currently have warmflow whitebird oil boiler connected to two pumps for heating and hot water controlled by a flash immermat timer.

Have had a plumber look at it with a view to changing to one pump and installing two zone valves which are in turn connected to the hive hub. Plumber having looked at it thought it would be a simpler to leave as is and spoke to an electrician who thought it would be doable by adding a relay.

Have not had much look getting either to come back to me to do the job and I am wondering what is the best way to go about this before I go chasing a plumber or electrician.

Would the best way be to leave as is and get an electrician to add a relay and the hive or do I get a plumber to add zone valves etc?

    Thanks for any help.:)

Might be better to edit subject to include the Hive requirement.

In passing what do you expect the Hive to do?

Is there a pump in the boiler as well?

    Heading edited, thanks.

I'm looking to be able to control the heating and hot water independently of each other, at the minute it is either all on or all off, not ideal in the warmer months when we would just need hot water. To be able to remotely access it and the wireless thermostat would be another good addition as there isn't currently one in the house so no way of controlling temperature. A very simple system at the minute which good be more efficiently utilised.

    No pump in the boiler.

Hive will only control what you have installed, and I don't see how a relay will magically separate your heating and hot water circuits?
Get you plumber to install the zone valves (if you can split upstairs and downstairs also)

As for Hive it's currently not a self-install product in Ireland, it's solely available via Bord Gais Energy, and will be available for oil installs within the next few weeks.

Thanks DGOBS, will talk to the plumber again.

House is a bungalow so don't have to worry about upstairs and downstairs zones, just trying to make it that we can heat either the radiators or the hot water as we can only currently have both on or both off.

Have attached a picture of the two pumps which are currently controlled by the immermat flash timer. A simple set up and everything easily accessible so shouldn't be a big job to split, or so I think anyway!!!

Further on with this and just checking if the attached sketch would be the way to go?

Any reason this wouldn't be feasible?
