New Honda Civc 2017 Hatchback or "new" facelift Audi A3 Sportback (i.e. 5 door)

New Honda Civc 2017 Hatchback or "new" facelift Audi A3 Sportback (i.e. 5 door) - possibly not a normal choice, but one I'm coming down to.  Want petrol engine and the 1.4 civic does 179hp, A3 1.5 does 150hp.  Both models new are around 30k.  Civic possibly a bit too much design wise, versus A3 is quite conservative.

    Thoughts in general appreciated!

Civic every day of the week for me. The only thing that disappoints me about the new civic is that the interior is a bit conservative. The exterior is sensational to my eyes. I'd imagine the build quality and reliability will be better on the Civic too, just a wild guess.

No bothers. If it were PCP the Audi would probably be a safer bet.

Is the new Civic out yet, my local Honda dealer didn't have them yesterday.

I think it is May when they are out. The local dealer had a lhd demo in the showroom last month.

The Honda Civic much nicer than the Audi as well as more reliable and better built too Id say.
Just to complicate things more have you looked at the new Renault Megane? Worth a look even if you are not a fan. They are a lovely car very classy now too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Tuesday 14 March new Civic arriving at Clonskeagh Motors .. Honda APR is 6.9% on a pcp finance deal .. Audi Apr on a A3 is 4.9% ..

Yes pcp is high on the civic... I'm tempted to change my tourer for the 1.5 petrol..looks like won't be available in ireland till May or June so probably a 172 car. The 1 litre petrol is getting good reviews but I'd fancy more power and possibly and automatic.. Other downside is slightly restricted headroom in back on new civic...

It's very rare you will get cheap PCP rates on a brand newly launched model. There is usually enough interest in it so that they don't need to offer low interest rates. Also I don't think Honda were every at the forefront of offering cheap PCP rates even on run out models here.

    I'd go with the Honda.

That might be true but Honda are selling so few cars here they would want to so something.. Im struggling to justify staying with Honda when I could get 0% finance on other makes... I've had Honda for 15 years and mostly good experiences

If you look over the years I don't think Honda have had much interest in the Irish market. It's not like they are after market share like Hyundai, Toyota, etc. Minimum marketing, limited model lineup and small dealer network don't help. They sell x number of cars here and seem content to just do that.

All of which is totally irrelevant to whether you should buy a Honda, or not. Apple don't have a store in this country but plenty of people still buy iPhones.

While Honda reliability is fantastic, if you are only holding for 3 years then it shouldn't be a major factor. I'd go for the extra 29 horses.

Where did I say in this thread not to buy a Honda?

So it was just an irrelevant comment aimed at nothing in particular? Sorry, my bad.

It was a reply to micks_address's previous post. It would seem I'm not the one making irrelevant comments in this thread so move on.

Thanks for responses. Must say I'm surprised no-one is suggesting the Audi - I thought it was the "premium" brand.
