Hi all looking to replace 10 year old vectra(good car but will need to spend cash on it soon!). Was looking at a few cars, a renault fluence 14 for 12k, a couple of insignias 13/14 for 13 to 16k or top of the budget i40 15 for 18k. Any reason to not buy the fluence(its a high spec)? Or any warnings on the other 2 all are reasonable mileage? Thanks for any info/suggestions :-)

    The fluence is smaller.

Insignias are by no means huge on the inside either though.

OK, went for a look yesterday. Colm think you were right, my wife went to sit into the fluence and hit her head en route! It feels a little small inside. Seen a lovely insignia, top spec 141 100k. Would there b any thing I should look out for when I go back to look at it? By the way its an imported Vauxhall does that make a difference?

Despite what anyone says, being a Vauxhall impacts its resalability. It's def worth less than an Opel. It's the only brand where the uk import has a different name than the "Irish" equivalent.
Now that's not a reason to buy it, just something to be aware of. You should be getting a Vauxhall Insignia for relatively handy money as a result.

You might as well go to the UK yourself and buy a Vauxhall at that rate to cut out the middleman and save a bit more money. Sell the Vectra privately, it's not going to be worth much as a trade-in anyway. Insignias are cheap as chips over there after a few years. Ford Mondeo is another one.

Hi all, just to let you know after much looking and agonizing we went for a 151 i40. Unfortunately not the facelift model but just couldnt stretch that far with the budget! Flunce just felt too small and insignias just felt too same after the Vectra. By the way Bazz you were right bout the trade in value, pretty poor :-( .Thanks for all the replys :-) !

Everybody gets out of your way on the motorway when you have an i40 :)
