Lads. What's the story with mf 3000 series? What to go for or avoid and how to know? Certain gear boxes etc? What is the view on mf 3060/3070

Sweet engines but the electrics are known to have gremlins. Usually due to water ingress at the mudguard.
Similar to the 6100 series problem. Good tractor though and I'd rate them higher than the 300 series in every possible way bar the above niggles.

Watch the speed shifts on them too. Different version gave trouble on the 4000 series.

And always said that the 85 at the end was the better models (3085,3185....) not the 00 ending models

We had a 3080. Had alot of trouble with the gear box. It was the only reason we got rid of it

Have a 3075. Around 90Hp so it manages all our work with ease.Don't find it too thirsty either. Nimble enough around a tight yard. I've read warnings about the 32 speed autotronic box; can be hassle if previous operator abused it.

What actually went wrong with your gearbox?

There were filings some how in it, was very very hard to get in gear. Had it in massey garage a few times and local mechanic was at it too, advise we got from both was to trade it in. We did that and another mechanic obviously better than ours sorted it. Afair the selectors were a problem too. We traded it in in 2000, it was a 1991 tractor. Was grand up until about 6 months before that
