    Hi there. Anyone know how to remove hydraulic filter on mf 165. Lift is knocking I was told to remove filter and clean. Not sure where it is

    A quick phone call to your local dealer Dave (presumably where you get parts/an odd part) is on the cards. They're usually very helpful as a rule in these situations

    Look around back axle. There on a sheet metal triangular plate drain out all oil first. Filter is behind this.

    There is no need to drain oil from the gearbox.
    Off hand im not sure if its acessed by the lefthand side of the tractor or right hand side, its been a while since i cleaned it .
    But drive the back wheel up on 2 concrete blocks on one side to tilt the tractor so you dont need to drain the oil.
    The filter is behind either the plate which has the dipstick for the back axel on it or the plate which has the pto lever in it .
    With the tractor tilted to the correct side , remove this and find the filter behind it
