    Hi there,

My sister is giving me her car and scrapping my car towards a new car. They told her that I need to have the two sets of keys. I've only had one for a couple of years.

CAr is a 02 Peugeot 206. What's my cheapest option here? Presumably only needs to be able to open the door, not actually start the car.

She is gonna call tomorrow to confirm that I do need a second set as it seems like a weird rule. But If I do need a second one, what are my options. thanks

Any locksmith/key cutting place can cut you a copy no problem. As far as I remember they don't have a chip in the key either so it'll do what the original does. Any good locksmith can test for a chip and let you know anyway.

If the car is going in on a 'scrappage' deal, then surely they have to actually 'scrap' it..? So what difference does the amount of keys have to do with it..?

Or am I completely missing something..!

It's not actually scrapped, it's passed on to a third party.

Just start calling a locksmith. When I had to get a second key a few years ago for a chipped key. I got quoted everything from €10-50. You can easily call 20 locksmiths in about 20 mins

Youre buying a new car on a scrappage deal and the dealer wants 2 keys!!, tell him you only have one and if thats not good enough you will go somewhere else, he is not going to lose the deal for a spare key.
