Very few in the Magic 360 club, (+300 yds and 60% accuracy)

    Interesting.

I read Mark Broadie's book (the guy who developed the "shots gained" stats) and he is clear that it is better to be long than accurate (if you are a pro) off the tee.....

.....something DJ's position on the graph suggests might be true given his win and position on the order of merit!!

Is there a infographic on attack angle and distance on drives?

Apparently tour average is -1, I thought it would be more up than that.

Stats on trackman are amazing - I know for myself if I hit, say 3 up I'll be 25 yards longer than hitting 1 down.

It was -1.3 a few years ago, which I Was really surprised at. I know from my own GC2 stats that if i can get to 0 i can get about 25 yards more. Still way to steep coming in though.

My angle of attack for driver was +5 last time i was on and my smash factor was 1.47. 100 mph swing speed.

The tour average carry being 275 is good to know. We hear so much about Dustin and Rory hitting 360 yard drives it got a bit depressing. Nice to know there are some mere mortals on tour.

Interesting to know what spin numbers you were getting and how that translated to average carry. I would guess if you could get low 2000s in spin you could be looking at 250 carry ish ?

I was spinning about 3100 and launching at 13 or so. The driver was 12.5 at the time i was on it. I cant remember the average carry distance. I have it at home i must dig it out. I remember a few of the driver went just shy of 270 total so the 250 might be correct for the carry.

Very interesting, I would have thought a 12.5 driver and +5 AOA would lanuch much higher than 13. Of course strike is a big issue but 1.47 smash suggests pretty good contact.

I would have thought with those numbers 3100 was pretty high for spin and would cost you distance. But then 250 carry at that swing speed is pretty spot on.

Be interested to see the numbers if you got your hands on them. Anyone spot the numbers nerd :D

i have the details here now, carry avg 257, ball speed 144.6, smash, 1.47, spin 3110, launch 13.5, decent 36, height 101 ft, angle +5 degrees. But i had two shots were the angle was over 9 degrees. My best shots the angle of attack was +4 degrees.

That is an excellent carry with a SS of 100.

Interesting article here on getting the most from your SS
