VRT hold up on a new car

My new Peugeot 3008 arrived in the dealership on Friday and I had a quick look at it. I was to pick it up Monday after PDI, registration etc. Got a call on Monday to say that there was a holdup with the VRT due to the fact that I had added leather seats. Three days later and it's still not sorted with no timescale from the dealer as to when I'll be getting my car. They seem to be blaming "the revenue". Is this kind of thing common? Are revenue really to blame?

The only hold up should be if the exact car wasn't on the revenue database and they have to manual add it. Normally takes 7-10 days.

Leather seats wouldn't do this, it would have to be something on the V5c that didn't match the revenue - Co2, door number etc.

OP is talking about a brand new car.

Given that it is a brand new model I'd say Peugeot and Revenue have not agreed on VRT pricing of extras like leather seats yet. Revenue usually contact the manufacturer with the car's VIN and then come back with a VRT figure. This can take up to 2 weeks normally but could take longer with a brand new model.

Thanks bazz26 not exactly the news I wanted to hear though! Sounds about right - he said that he has another customer in the same boat with keyless entry. Told me that any 3008s he had without extras were registered with no problem. Is this not something Peugeot should have sorted out in advance especially as they've already given me a price for the car!

Revenue won't issue a reg until VRT is sorted, whether you have paid for any extras or not

Sorry point I was making that it seemed strange that the dealer would give me a price that included the leather and VRT when they didn't know how much the VRT was going to be.

Edit - Small print attached to original quote:
This Quotation is valid for seven days from the above date and subject to no change in the condition of the buy-in.Subject to confirmation and/or alteration at time of receipt of official order.Finance subject to status - Terms and conditions apply. All prices are in Euro unless stated otherwise.

It's really something the Peugeot distributor here and Revenue should have sorted out. Basically Revenue need the pretax price from Peugeot on the extras so that they can charge the VRT amount on them.

Hopefully they might throw something in when I eventually get the car!

I wonder if it's the first new model to be affected by the new WLTC emissions system?

Would explain why cars with no options are fine but there's a hold up with anything with extras.
