Has anyone been to Cancun, could you give me some advice, such as how you traveled, what it us like and what to avoid. Hotel recommendations would be appreciated as well.

    Thanks.

For adults only all inclusive, secrets maroma is excellent , I've stayed there, secrets the vine is meant to be very nice also. We got shared bus transfers from the airport. Flew via New York as we were there for a week first but flew home to Dublin via Philadelphia. Any questions, just ask.

I looked at Thomson, but we were looking at May, so out of their schedule. We are taking a teenager as well, so adults only is out.

Thanks for the tips though, I might look at going via the US, I hadn't considered that.

I got married there last year, flew to London then Cancun with BA. We stayed in Secrets The Vine. We couldn't fault any aspect of our time there (nearly 10 days), we went to America afterwards, i wish we'd stayed in Cancun. I'm pretty well travelled and it was the best trip I've ever had. Can't wait to go back. Secrets The Vine is all inclusive and adults only btw.

We spent a week in a luxury resort close to Tulum, the Bahia Pricipe Sian Ka'an, and then spent 3 nights in the Hard Rock Cancun before flying home. Both were great stays with completely different vibes in both. We stayed on the Rock Royalty floors in the Hard Rock, so we had use of a private pool area as well as the main pools.

It's such a pleasure to walk into a warm sea, and the beaches are gorgeous.

We flew Dublin > Gatwick > Cancun on the way out with BA (oldish plane, but OK) and then back Cancun > Philadelphia > Dublin with American (horrible flight on a crowded 3-3 config, will never fly them again)

Stayed in the Rui Cancun for a week in December. Place was unreal. All inclusive and had all ages with private beach.

We also flew via London. Flight is long but cancun is amazing. we also went on to America and I wish we had stayed in cancun longer.

I genuinely cant think of anything to avoid when you get there.

we're going to Bahia Principe Akumal in July, I believe it's the same group as sian ka'an. Any tips and would you recommend any good trips in the area? we want to go to chichen itza, tulum ruins and akumal beach to see the turtles.

Yup, it's one huge resort complex split into four individual resorts. The Sian Ka'an is set a bit back in the jungle, but there are the little trolley bus that shuttle you around the resort and it all works really well.

In terms of ruins, we booked trips with the trip representative in the lobby. We did a day trip to the Coba & Tulum ruins (which are pretty close) with a company call Alltournative, who were really good. The beach strip in Tulum is gorgeous and I really want to get back there and visit it again.

Chichen Itza is defo worth the trip.

We also went to XPLOR is Playa del Carmen but not sure if that's your type of thing but we loved it there.
