    Hello I am new to Ireland, I have a nearly 3 years old toddler girl that I want to start to enroll her in school -as I heard about long waiting lists-.
    I will be living in city center in Dublin 18.
    Could u help me how to know the near schools to this area.
    Also if u recommend a certain school, if there are certain things that I need to make sure it is available n school based on ur experience -i heated that it is better to search with a school that have a lap for example-
    Thanks alot.

    Dublin 18 is about 10km + from Dublin City Centre.
    Which part will you be living in?

    You need to decide which type of school you want- catholic , another religion, educate together (teach all religions but don't follow one religion). Also Irish speaking (gaelscoil) or English speaking. Mixed or all girls/all boys. When you have that clear in your mind you can start to search for schools in your area. Are you living in Dublin 18 now? Which schools do your neighbours use? Ask at your local playschool (if your child attends).
    As an aside- a lot of children age 3 and 4 are entitled to two free preschool years under a scheme called ecce. You might be eligible for that so look into that too.

    Welcome to Ireland.

    Here is a list of primary schools - http://www.education.ie/en/find-a-school

    Is your daughter enrolled for pre-school?
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/education/pre_school_education_and_childcare/early_childhood_care_and_education_scheme.html

    At nearly 3 it will be too late to enroll i most schools with crazy waiting lists but in ireland different state schools have different enrollment criteria, each school can set their own.

    If you are looking for a multi denominational,co-educational school then this might be useful -

    Good Luck:)

    @xfactorfan thanks alot :)

    What is vantage Dev?

    As mentioned there are a lot of preschool places with children not starting school till they are approximately 5 years old.
    Dublin 18 is a big area and definitely not city centre.
