Why is there not more outrage in Ireland over Gardai corruption?

Why is there not more outrage in Ireland over Gardai corruption?

I think one of the hallmarks of a modern, civilised Western European democratic country is a proper ethical police force.

What Norin O'Sullivan and her "team" did in trying to destroy the life of a decent man with false allegations of child abuse is an absolute disgrace. It like something you would hear happening in some South American country while saying to yourself "glad I'm not living there".

If this sort of behaviour goes on at the top of force, I have no doubt, that members in the lower ranks of the force now, consciously or sub-consciously, now view this sort of behaviour as "acceptable" because their boss already does it.

It is sad that there is not more public outrage over this. Ireland is on a very slippery slope here.

First they came for the whistle-blowers, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a whistle-blower....Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Already one Garda Commissioner has resigned, as has a Minister for Justice. The replacing Commissioner is on the ropes, and its hastened the resignation of our taoiseach, sparked a leadership battle and will inevitably lead to an election. Plus we're having an enquiry. The fallout has been fairly significant. And it ain't over.

I wouldn't automatically assume the rank and file support the actions of the top brass either.

It is the same the world over; few can handle power well. has been so wherever I have lived so nothing new here.

And in such an atmosphere, speaking out and being audible /visibly outraged?

Have you already decided the results and findings of the public enquiry?

    Please share.

I'm all for innocent until proven guilty.

But there comes a time when only a complete dope would believe such cock n bull story of there being a "copy and paste error". You can believe that if you want...I don't want to burst your bubble.

In P cafe but there were too many "claims" in relation to whistleblowers, promotions for investigaters caught lying only because McCabe recorded there meeting, NOS, her husband who assisted in the investigation in relation to leaks to the press all closed or nuked, I've even brought up threads relating to Garda corruption after it was closed in P cafe!

Boards has some serious top brass ass lickers :9

What has the copy and paste episode got to do with Garda corruption?

    That was Tusla/ HSE.

Because its almost expected now in all organisations in Ireland from the banks to the colleges and the government. The reason we wont speak out or aren't more outraged? Hundreds of years of British Rule and wanting to be a "good" person, not rocking the boat.

Mod: This is politics, there's threads in Politics and the cafe for this already.
