Ok, so I have large conservatory, I bought house so previous owner installed. The windows in the room are what you call "open outward top hung". Found this via google:P

They are big like image below. So when I open them, more or less they just swing back closed. It wasn't a huge problem as we are doing renovations and room was storage but about to start using. Anybody any idea's on what I can use to keep them open? At the moment if I want to let in air I just prop open with a stick:P

Any adjustment screws to be seen near the hinges: or are there any side holders (I don't know what you would call them (like elbows))?

The screws may just need tightening

Open a window and look where the sliding hinge attaches to the frame. There should be a screw visible there (usually a Philips). Adjust to your heart's content.

Thanks everyone, ok had a look and there was a little flat head bronze screw, needed to push the windows really open to see

The little screw on some of them was about to fall out :-) looks like they hadn't been tightened in a while. Job done and windows working

Now next job, get some sort of security fixing on them to stop the kids getting out them

    A man's work next stops

Safety catches are readily available from builders providers and window makers.
