    Hi

I am missing my bill for february. Last bill received was early December. I also tried to submit a meter reading 10 days ago but it said i could not because the bill was due shortly. Could you please tell me when its due?

    Regars
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

In order for us to look into this for you, could you please send us a private message with the following details?
    • Your full name
    • Your account number
    • The first line of your address
    • Your contact number or date of birth
    • Confirmation you are the account holder (a sentence stating this is sufficient)
We can then look into your query for you.

    Thanks,
    Brige

    Same here.

Looks like ye may have a billing issue.

My next bill was due approx. "20th Feb", no Feb 20th bill issued and now next bill due approx "21st April" on website.

Was also prohibited from entering meter reading in advance of next bill due date, once it got within about 5 days of the bill due date. Surely this is when people should be allowed enter their meter readings so as the bill is accurate ??

    Hi blobbie,

We are sorry to read of your bill delay. We will let the relevant department know.

If you would like us to check the Electric Ireland account in question, just private message us the account number, state that you are the account-holder and how your name appears on the account, and your address and date of birth. We will respond to your message as soon as possible.

ESB Networks and Gas Networks Ireland read the meter (or calculate an estimate if they cannot read the meter) for the six annual bills for all electricity and gas customers of all providers. If a customer sends in a meter-reading shortly before the scheduled bill (prior to the five-day cut-off) it will generate a bill, but it may not prevent the scheduled ESB Networks or Gas Networks Ireland bill from being generated shortly after, resulting in two bills in close succession.

Therefore, we recommend only sending in a meter-reading after receiving an estimated scheduled bill - upon immediate receipt of the estimated bill if possible (particularly if the customer pays by direct debit).

If the bill is over-estimated, it will be cancelled by the accurate meter-reading and replaced by the correct bill. If it is under-estimated, the remaining balance will be generated by the reading (for adding to the under-estimated bill).

The quickest ways to have a meter-reading processed are either via Customer Service on 1850 372 372 (open until 8pm Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays) or with us here on the Social Media team (Boards.ie, Facebook, Twitter) and we are available until 6pm Monday to Friday, also excluding public holidays.

    Best regards,
    Una

Oddly enough, the meter reader called at around 11am this morning.

I agree with this, while we can all understand the delay in waiting for a meter reading before issuing a bill, there is something wrong when our accounts are showing the estimated time of the following bill. That is crazy.

    Hi danjo-xx,

    We regret any confusion.

The Online Billing system shows an appoximate release date. A bill can be issued up to two weeks prior to this release date, or two weeks after the date shown.

The bill may be issued after the approximate release date for a number of reasons, such as a delay in the meter reading being provided to Electric Ireland. ESB Networks and Gas Networks Ireland read all electricity and gas meters, respectively. They aim to read these meters four times a year, and estimate the usage twice a year. These readings are taken approximately two months apart, however, the time the readings are taken, can vary depending on the networks's availability.

Should the bill release after the date shown on the Online Billing system, then the online account will show the next approximate billing period. However, this does not mean that you will not receive your scheduled bill.

If you do not receive a copy of your bill ten working days after the approximate release date, please contact us by private message with an up-to-date meter reading. If you could also provide us with your Electric Ireland account details (your full name, your Electric Ireland account number, the first line of your address, your contact number or date of birth, and confirmation you are the account holder), we can then look into this matter further for you.

We hope this helps. Should you have any other questions please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige
