13 Passat warning light?

Just started the car earlier and there were 2 warning lights.
    Error:ABS/ stabilisation control (ESC)
    Error: start-stop system.

Obviously enough the "start stop" isn't cutting in and the handbrake isn't coming on automatically. It's fine other than that.

Just curious what may be the issue, have other Passat owners seen this before.
Just can't call the main dealer till tomorrow and wondering if it's ok to drive away

Friend had same errors show up on his 5 series this week

Turned out was his flywheel, wasn't cheap

    Could be anything really.

The stop start will deactivate itself by default and put that message on the dash if you have any warning lights or static faults so that probably not a concern.

They'd be prone to rear wheel bearings going and the ABS sensor is part of the hub in those so it wouldn't unusual to get that warning if the bearing is failing.

You will need to get the fault codes scanned.

It's more than likely going to be a faulty rear wheel speed sensor. They are a common issue on the B7 Passat.

Good call. Got it sorted earlier. Set me back €260 with the main wv dealer.
They 'sorted" the emissions thing too.

Your dealer must like you if they got you in and repaired in one day.

Probably glad of the break from fixing the emissions...

What was the parts vs labour cost breakdown of the €260 out of interest? The total sounds very expensive. The sensors are under €70 ex VAT and are very easy to fit. I wonder did they change both left and right hand sensors.

80/90 for a diagnostic scan to start with ?

Yep the part was 70, labour 160 then add the vat.
I'm thinking maybe I should've gone to an indie! Then again he mightn't have had the part.
I bought car from the main dealer and I've serviced it with them regularly since then. You could call it inertia maybe. Just was afraid it was something serious.

Car was washed and vacuumed too🙄🙄
