Havent gotten eyes tested in 2 years. Am short sighted. I'm mainly concerned with health of my eyes. If optician told me I needed a slightly stronger prescription I wouldn't bother getting new glasses as function fine with ones I have and see no point changing. Ditto with my contact lenses. Am over 40so unlikely my short-sighted prescription should be changing at this stage anyway. Ditto if I'm told I need reading glasses, I wouldn't get as functioning as am. I just want the health of my eyes tested and to ensure its OK to wear contacts 5 days a week for upto 8 hours. Basically want to test for astigmatism and other health issues, not eg whether I'm minus 3 or minus 3.25 ! I found with specsavers my reading was changing up and down every year and I was forking out for new glasses or lenses whereas now I'm thinking what's the point if I can see just fine with glasses I have. Will contact lenses test check health of eyes or do I need to do regular eye test and then pay separately for a contact lenses test?

Both a regualr eye check and a contact lens check are going to check your prescription anyway. Even if there is an 0.25 change, you don't have to change the glasses but part of the test is checking the prescription.
As for the eye health check. You will need both a contact lens check and a regular eye test.
A regular eye check will check the health of the eyes including screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration, high blood pressure etc. A contact lens check will asses the health of the front of your eyes to ensure the contact lenses are not causing any damage to your cornea and conjunctiva. This will typically involve the addition of a yellow/orange dye to your eyes after your remove your contact lenses.

Hope this clears things up for you
