Buying used car

    Hi all,

I would be grateful from some advice on buying a used car (or whether I'd be better off going PCP etc.). My knowledge on cars is pretty poor so it would be good to get a steer from others "in the know".

Currently driving a 2006 1.9 TDI Volkswagen Passat. Not sure what I would get on a trade in at this stage but probably no more than 2-3k at this stage.

I'm looking at options for buying a used car. In my late 20s, I don't have much in savings but have a good salary. I mostly drive at the weekends, long journeys from Dublin to Tipperary. I'm living in Dublin and do a very limited amount of city driving. Also occasionally do long drives for work. My average mileage per year is probably no more than 15,000-20,000 miles. Enjoy the power of the Passat and its handling on the motorway. I have been looking a Passat CCs and similar. But would also be good to hear of other options (which might be more economical).

I enjoy the power of the current passat on the motorway. In terms of financing, I'd be happy to take out a loan in the region of 10k-13k.

    Grateful for any advice. Thanks.
