How many days does JSA payment stay in the Post Office?

I get my JSA payment on Tuesday but was without my car all week so I haven't been able to go pick it up. I won't be able to pick it up until Monday now. Will it still be there?

For whatever reason I though that the post office would keep your payment until the day before your next payment (Monday in my case), but after googling online some people are saying they only keep it 3 days. Which is correct? If my payment has been taken back, will I have trouble getting it returned?

You can but try. I don't think it wil be there but if it's not you need to present yourself at your SW office to explain why you weren't available to collect your payment.
If this has never happened before then your car explanation should be perfectly acceptable, all the more so if you had an invoice for car repairs?
Shouldn't be a problem but there might be some tut tutting and your sensible so your not going to be confrontational about it.
It's always a good idea to let SW know if something like this crops up

Friday it gets "sent back" I've prior experience of this. So if you are not planning on picking it up until next week and expecting 2 weeks forget it, you won't see a penny. Get on to them asap. Also you get a tuesday payment as an fyi you can get that on a monday if you prefer.

The whole idea about JSA in particular is that you are supposed to be in financial need of a weekly payment.
So if you don't pick it up within a 3day period then obviously you don't need it.
So the Dept have to assume that you've got a job in the meantime and no longer are qualified.
That's why it's "returned to draw".

They seem to be more flexible with JSB in that they keep it up til the day before the next payment before it gets returned back to SW. JSA is stricter in that case if it's only 3 days.
