buying 18mth old car

    Hi all

I'm currently looking to change my car from an 11yr old one to something newer. I will probably spend between 17 and 20k.
Its a lot of money for me so nervous of making a mistake.
Anyway I've been looking around a bit and have seen a nice looking qasquai that is just 18mths old and on sale for €20k in a pretty big respectable car dealers.

Now maybe I'm looking for problems where there aren't any but I'm wondering why someone would get rid of an 18mth old car.
Do you think this is normal enough or would people not hold onto them for at least two years?
Do you think its a sign there was something wrong with it?
Google suggests some people find the Qasquai unreliable but then if they are that bad why are there so many of them on the road?
I haven't driven it yet but hopefully get into it tomorrow but just thought I'd ask those of you who are more knowledgeable if an 18 mth old car is a red flag

    Thanks

Without knowing how many owners the car has had it's hard to tell if there is anything to be concerned about. If it's had the same owner from day 1 then I would not be so concerned as some people upgrade their cars regularly, every 2 years for example.

If the car has a number of owners in a very short time then it could well indicate that they wanted rid of it. Given used Qashqais are ten a penny you can afford to walk away from one that has some question marks around it.

Could be someone bought it and was unaware of the driving style needed for a diesel so wanted to get rid of it for a petrol/hybrid/electric car. Could also be a demo car the dealer is offloading.

    Thanks Guys.
the web says only 1 previous owner so that's good I guess but it appears to be 2k cheaper than most of the others online so that has me nervous too. maybe its a lower spec or something.
