Has anyone replaced an alternator in a Superb?

    Hi guys,

Alternator failed in my wife's 2010 Superb 170 DSG today. Towed to the house by Allianz.

The alternator is now loose and disconnected but I can't see a way to maneuver it out. The only google reference I can find suggests "putting the lock carrier into the service position" which is apparently removing front bumper and dropping disconnecting rad support panels etc.

    HELP!!

releasing the front panel is not a big deal and will give you enough room not to have force it out. You may get it out by removing the top engine mount and middle mount and manoeuvring the engine on trolley jack not exactly advised way but may get you out of a hole

All you need to do is move the fan idler pulley forward and the alternator bottom bolt will come out, There is a 7mm allen bolt under the rear of alternator, hold pulley with large pipe pliers and loosen 7mm and the fan will slide forward enough,

If you have charging issues remove the voltage regulator from rear and check brushes and slip rings.

Thanks but these are instructions for a MK1 superb.

OK so this is all done and it was pretty difficult as far as alternator jobs I've done.

To get the unit out I had to remove the rad fans/cowl, unbolt the A/C compressor so I could lift the A/C hoses up with the alternator, and disconnect the front engine mounting and jack the engine up as far as possible.

Even with the above out of the way it was a very tight squeeze, in and out.
