    I'm considering buying a vauxhall ampera 2014.

My question is, are there any garages in the country that could work on this car should something go wrong?

I phoned two opel garages today who both said they cannot. Hopefully someone can answer my question.
    Regards,
    Richard.

I'd say Charles Hurst in Belfast would be the only show in town for this.

Yeah, I'd say if you live within a reasonable distance to a dealer in the North it's probably your best option.

    Reasonable as in Cork?

That's a fair distance to travel if something goes wrong and what if the car cannot get there by itself? I live in Limerick and a few years ago had to travel to Belfast for warranty work on a UK imported VW. Luckily I was able to drive the car up there but parts had to be ordered in which meant I had to stay overnight. Still worked out cheaper than me paying to get it repaired out of my own pocket down here but if the car needed to be transported up there then it could have been a different story.

I like the Ampera,, but there's no way I'd buy one.

Because of lack of service in the south or?

Yes, and worries over future parts availability.

Ya this is my concern too. Really like this car, i'm not sure what else to consider. I refuse to buy a diesel. I'd love a gs 300h, is 300h, or 450h but they look out of my reach at the moment.

Is the fallback of the extended range the appeal over the likes of a Leaf?

Ya that and it's actually a nice looking car.

    Are they any good?

    They're brilliant. They're not a plug in hybrid though, they're basically a Prius that doesn't look ****.

There's a guy around Foxrock / Leopardstown with a white one.
I spoke with him and he mentioned that he bought it from an Irish dealer and confirmed that they also service it for him. I can't recall who the dealer was though.
