    hey Guys,

Myself and the OH thinking of heading to Barcelona for 3 days in late April. Just looking for any recommendations on a general area or a specific hotel you guys might recommend for us?

We are late 20's couple and just heading for some R+R together really along with hopefully some nice food, few drinks and hopefully take in a few of the sights too. (not asking for much I know!!)

    Thanks a lot :D

Eixample is a good area. Loads of bars and nice restaurants and handy enough into town.

We stayed here last weekend. Nice rooms and staff and very good location. Rooms aren't massive but we didn't spend long in it anyway. http://www.hotelpraktikvinoteca.com/

It's a few years since I was there, but last time we stayed in Hotel NH Barcelona Centro. Hotel was clean and well kept, pretty much what you'd expect from a chain hotel. But the location was superb, just a few hundred metres from the Ramblas.

Stayed here a few years ago on recommendation from a cousin. Was very nice, I'd recommend it. You can get a continental breakfast here and I think they still do complimentatry coffee and a snack (pastries) at a certain time every day. Plus it's less than a 1 minute walk from the metro stop that takes you to las ramblas.

If you can get a deal (which they sometimes have), you won't get a better location than the Olivia Plaza on Placa Catalunya.

We got given the full lash - an upgrade to a view of the square; an upgraded room; free champers on arrival; more free bubbles and chocolate covered strawberries the first evening. It was great, a real treat.

housetrip.com is a really good site - I've used it lots of times - for Barca, Madrid and Lisbon.

Stayed here about a month ago, thought it was a great hotel and in a brilliant location - 5 mins walk from Placa Catalunya/La Rambla, close to Passeig de Gracia which was a nice street to walk down, plenty of restaurants around the area the hotel was in as well. Has one or two metro stops close by and was very easy to get to from the airport.

Thanks for all the replies guys, went for the suggestion from irish_goat over the weekend as it seemed pretty reasonable and just what we are after. Will keep the others for next time. Looking forward to it now! :)
