About 2 metres high and North or North East facing is recommended.

It can take a while for birds to take an interest in a newly erected nestbox. It took 2 years for mine to be used for the first time but now it's used every year by bluetits for nesting, and I have had a resident blue tit overnighting in it since about October last year. Just be patient.
