How to smooth over wall for painting

    Hi there,

Removed old wallpaper from sitting room with a view to repainting.

Walls in generally good condition. Some polyfill and sanding (i hope!) will cover up most imperfections and we're not necessarily too fussy to get the whole lot reskimmed.

But, where an old door was removed, and plaster put in place there's a noticeable 'dip' between the two levels. When the wallpaper was in place, you wouldn't spot as it was pretty even. But I know when I paint over this, it will be very noticeable.

    Any thoughts?

i have often used tile adhesive for large areas, its cheap, smooth to apply and drys rock solid.also dont use midsheen paint,it will show up to many imperfections,go for matt paint.
