Decided to send a UK company an enquiry to convert a Range Rover Defender to be converted to EV... 35K i was quoted. Not that i have the money but i had a 2006 Toyota Landcruiser and sold 2/3 years ago. Driving a vw 1.6 now and was thinking of buying an old Defender and converting. Love the look of the old Defender and was thinking of buying something unique compared to buying a Zoe etc.

Main reason was i thought the body of a defender would hold enough batteries to give me a lot of km's... Any irish companies doing conversions? I know theres a few one man garage guys but anyone who is leading the game?

Also legalities tax/vrt I'm sure tax office will say its a diesel and its been converted since.

Just thinking about it not in a position to do so at this time.

One guy is selling his BMW E39 EV. He done all the conversion himself, with videos on you tube.

Yea saw a few of his videos and he's on the EV group on facebook. Just interested in this as a whole, potentially a big business in a few years..

The only people I know here doing it are going DIY. Importing kits and parts from EVWest and the like: http://www.evwest.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=40
