Building - where to start!!

    Hello oh wise ones!
    I'm currently looking for a site to build a 3 bed former nothing fancy about 1800sq ft. Is there anything I can be doing while waiting for the right site? Would you go to an architect before securing a site or would your plans be dependent on the site ie south facing etc! Just basically wondering if there is anything I can be working on to speed up the process when the time comes! We will be selling our house to get mortgage to build but in a good area so will have no problem selling. Does anyone have any recommendations for builders and architects in the Louth area??
